The origin of the Vakya system dates back over 1,500 years. It is primarily based on the Surya Siddhanta (the oldest surviving astronomical text) but refined through the Parahita system and the works of Tamil savant (16th century) and other Siddhantins.
In standard Vedic astrology, the Moon is the mind. In Vakya astrology, the Moon is the Karana Deha (causal body). Because Vakya relies heavily on lunar Vakyas, the Moon’s Nakshatra Pada (quarter) is considered hyper-precise for Muhurta (electional astrology).
Because the Vakya system does not account for the slow wobble of the Earth (precession of the equinoxes) in the same way modern science does, planetary transits can differ.
