The story follows two rival television reporters, (Shah Rukh Khan) and Ria Bannerjee (Juhi Chawla), who are constantly competing for the highest TRPs through sensationalist journalism. Their professional rivalry turns into a mission for justice when they encounter Mohan Joshi (Paresh Rawal), a man wrongfully branded as a "terrorist" after he kills a politician to avenge his daughter's death.
