The story begins in the mythical kingdom of Alagaësia , a land once protected by the legendary Dragon Riders . Now, the land is terrorized by the evil King Galbatorix , a former Rider who turned against his order. A young farm boy named Eragon (Edward Speleers) discovers a mysterious blue stone in the forest. To his astonishment, the stone turns out to be a dragon egg, from which hatches Saphira (voiced by Rachel Weisz).
