If you run a web server, ask yourself: Do you really need directory listing?

The term "index.of.password" refers to the use of (advanced search queries) to find servers displaying these directory listings that contain files with "password" in their name. When you combine the directory listing vulnerability with the presence of password files, you create a critical security risk. Attackers don't need to break in; they simply navigate to a directory and click a link. index.of.password

For penetration testers, intitle:"index.of" "parent directory" password is a standard Google Dork. It is a legal (though ethically grey) way to test if a company is leaking assets. If you run a web server, ask yourself:
